Get in Touch

Essex County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a public office. It cannot confirm custody, arrange release, post bond, or obtain an official booking record. Contact the responsible agency below for an official answer or request.

Official Essex Record Contacts

Use the office that created or holds the record. MPRSC is the ordinary present-custody channel for the regional Essex jail system. A Sheriff or Tappahannock Police report should go to the agency that made it, and the court path is for hearings and dispositions rather than booking photos.

Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center

Current custody and jail booking records
170 Oakes Landing Road
Saluda, VA 23149
Main: 804-758-2338
Lobby: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding state and federal holidays

For FOIA requests, contact FOIA Officer Andrea Kinser at 804-758-2338 ext. 253, fax 804-758-4295, or ahogge@mprsc.org. MPRSC accepts requests by mail, fax, email, in person, or telephone. It has no published flat fee; ask for an actual-cost estimate. The ordinary response period is five workdays, with a possible written extension of seven additional workdays. A deposit may be requested when the estimate exceeds $200.

Essex County Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff-created incident or arrest records
304 Prince Street
Tappahannock, VA 22560
Mailing: P.O. Box 955, Tappahannock, VA 22560
Main: 804-443-3347
Office directory: 804-443-3346
Emergency: 911

Sheriff Walter “Arnie” Holmes is the county-listed FOIA officer. Ask the Sheriff’s Office for an existing record it created or holds. The office is not the same custodian as MPRSC for every regional-jail booking record.

Tappahannock Police Department

104 Commerce Road
Tappahannock, VA 22560
Non-emergency: 804-443-3992
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Chief Thomas D. Carter is the Town’s named FOIA contact at tcarter@tappahannock-pd.gov. The Town provides a FOIA request-letter template. No flat police-record or photo fee was found, so a written advance estimate is appropriate.

Essex Combined Courts

Case status, hearings, and disposition follow-up
300 Prince Street, P.O. Box 66
Tappahannock, VA 22560
804-443-3744
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Courts do not provide the live jail roster or a booking-photo gallery. For a state-custody or supervision search after local custody, use the Virginia Department of Corrections Inmate & Supervisee Locator. The home page explains how these official channels fit together, while Sheriff’s Most Wanted covers the county’s warrant-check route.
